Effective Treatment for Eczema and Psoriasis

Two diseases that look much similar but are different from each other. Eczema is commonly known as Dermatitis. This is not just one disease but a group of diseases that come out as one disease and cause inflammation and redness on the skin. One can identify eczema by spotting the red, inflamed spots and heavy itching on those affected areas of the skin. The redness looks just like a rash, only itchy and slightly painful.

There are various types of psoriasis as well:

  • Erythrodermic psoriasis

Since Eczema and Psoriasis are allergic reactions, the causes are triggers that cause them to happen. There are many triggers that can cause these allergies and diseases. Some of the most common triggers include:

  • Soaps and detergent
  • Dogs or other animals
  • Wet and dry sweat
  • Perfumes
  • Animal Dander
  • Exposure to chemicals
  • Certain metals
  • Food
  • Plants
  • Smoking
  • Weather condition

Different treatment for psoriasis:

  • Topical treatment
    Treatment that deals directly with the skin is called topical treatment. You can treat psoriasis with this kind of treatment. Salicylic acid comes in an ointment form that can be applied to the affected area. There are other types of ointment too, some are steroid based, some are coal-tar ointments, and some are prescription retinoids.
  • Light treatment
    Sunlight cures many diseases in a person. A regular dose of vitamin D is more effective than other treatment. Morning sun is the best time to take all the vitamin D you want and that can help with treating this condition. However, there is a proper light therapy that includes ultraviolet-B light treatment.
  • Medication
    In some cases where other treatments do not seem to work, doctors prescribe medicines to the patient, but after some time these medicines can cause other side effects too. If medications are to be taken for treatment, there should be a regular check-up to look for side effects and other immunity-related effects.
  • Natural treatments
    Aloe vera, dead sea salts, cayenne peppers and fish oil are used to cure psoriasis on someone. But one of the most effective treatments for eczema and psoriasis is diet. Food is fuel for the body. The right diet will help you treat your diseases.

Here are some natural remedies for the treatment of psoriasis and eczema:

Add turmeric to your diet
This spice is widely known for many medical benefits and is one of the best antiseptics. Its an effective in reducing inflammation and acts as the best treatment for eczema and psoriasis. There is an antioxidant called curcumin that is found in turmeric and that protects the skin by healing the wound. You can add one tablespoon of turmeric to food while cooking and consume it. Can be added to veggies, pasta, and rice.

Apple cider vinegar
This soothes the skin and cures inflammation and burns. Apple cider vinegar can be directly applied to the affected skin with the help of cotton balls (clean) with soft hands. If you want to apply apple cider vinegar to a larger area, you may mix water with vinegar and dip a clean paper towel and dab it on your skin for relief. Do not apply this if you are bleeding or have a cracked skin. Consult your doctor if you are unsure about some remedies.

Flaxseeds
They are filled with omega-3 fatty acids and help block a chemical in the body that is called arachidonic acid that causes inflammation. There are many ways to have flaxseeds. You can directly chew them, or roast them or even add them to smoothies, granola, oatmeal or salads after grinding them.

Here are some preventive methods you can use to prevent these types of diseases from happening:

  • Take good care of your skin by keeping it clean and moist at all times using good moisturizer
  • Do not let sweat stay on your skin for a long time
  • Use a humidifier at home
  • Avoid extreme temperature changes
  • Eat a healthy and balanced diet. Ideally, your diet should be given utmost importance.
  • Indulge in exercises and yoga for better over physical and mental health.
